Spent the past week or so using Astro. It has changed how I think about the edge.

Cloudflare acquired it. OpenAI and Google use it on content sites, amongst a growing list of others. That is not coincidence. Astro is a thesis about where rendering belongs in 2026: static by default, pre-rendered at build time and served from the edge, with request-time rendering where it is needed.

The islands pattern is the right primitive. Content collections turn the file system into a CMS. The economics line up with how CDNs actually want to work. Architecturally important. Neat idea. Well executed. Watch this space closely!
